All PACT Act Conditions
This list covers 31 conditions recognized as presumptive under the PACT Act and subsequent VA rulemaking; the VA continues to add more over time. Each condition listed below qualifies for VA disability compensation without requiring you to prove it was caused by your service — you only need to show you served in a qualifying location. Always confirm the current list on the official VA burn-pit presumptive page.

12A rare and serious lung disease in which inflammation causes scar tissue to form in the small airways (bronchioles), progressively blocking airflow.
A chronic inflammatory airway disease causing reversible airflow obstruction, wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
Chronic inflammation of the bronchial airways producing a persistent, productive cough on most days for at least three months in two consecutive years.
A progressive obstructive lung disease — encompassing chronic bronchitis and emphysema — that causes persistent airflow limitation, chronic cough, and worsening breathlessness.
A form of COPD in which the alveoli (air sacs) are progressively destroyed, reducing gas exchange and causing shortness of breath.
A group of disorders causing progressive scarring and inflammation of the lung interstitium, leading to a dry cough and worsening breathlessness.
Inflammation of the pleura — the membranes lining the lungs and chest cavity — causing sharp chest pain that worsens with breathing, and sometimes fluid buildup (pleural effusion).
Progressive scarring of lung tissue that stiffens the lungs and reduces oxygen transfer, producing a dry cough and increasing breathlessness.
An inflammatory disease in which granulomas (clusters of immune cells) form in the lungs and other organs, causing cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and sometimes systemic involvement.
A category of lung diseases characterized by the formation of granulomas (clusters of immune cells) in lung tissue, often in response to inhaled foreign particles or chemical irritants.
Persistent inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes, causing runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, and postnasal drip.
Chronic inflammation of the paranasal sinuses affecting one or more sinus cavities, causing nasal congestion, facial pain or pressure, and reduced sense of smell.

Malignant tumors anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract, including esophageal, stomach, small-intestine, colon, and rectal cancers.
Malignant tumors of the pancreas, most commonly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, which carries a very poor prognosis.

Gulf War Presumptive Conditions
5Chronic disorders of the gastrointestinal tract — including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional dyspepsia, and related conditions — characterized by recurring symptoms without a structural or biochemical cause.
A complex, chronic illness characterized by profound fatigue not improved by rest, post-exertional malaise, cognitive impairment ("brain fog"), sleep disturbances, and often orthostatic intolerance.
A widespread musculoskeletal pain disorder accompanied by fatigue, sleep disturbances, cognitive difficulties, and heightened pain sensitivity.
A category covering medically unexplained symptoms that veterans report following qualifying Gulf War service but which do not fit into a recognized diagnostic category after thorough medical evaluation.
A recognized Gulf War illness category for veterans who experience chronic, disabling symptoms affecting multiple organ systems — such as fatigue, pain, cognitive symptoms, and gastrointestinal complaints — that have been present for six months or more and cannot be explained by a known medical diagnosis.
