About This Condition

A complex, chronic illness characterized by profound fatigue not improved by rest, post-exertional malaise, cognitive impairment ("brain fog"), sleep disturbances, and often orthostatic intolerance. Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is recognized as a Gulf War illness presumptive condition for veterans who served in qualifying Southwest Asia locations.

  • Medical evaluation meeting CDC diagnostic criteria for ME/CFS
  • Documentation of 6+ months of qualifying symptoms
