About This Condition

An inflammatory disease in which granulomas (clusters of immune cells) form in the lungs and other organs, causing cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and sometimes systemic involvement. Sarcoidosis is a PACT Act presumptive condition, rated on pulmonary and systemic residuals.

Evidence Needed

  • Tissue biopsy confirming non-caseating granulomas
  • Chest imaging (X-ray or CT)
  • Pulmonary function tests
  • Documentation of deployment to a qualifying location
