About This Condition

Persistent inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes, causing runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, and postnasal drip. Chronic rhinitis in veterans is frequently traced to ongoing irritation from toxic particulates encountered during deployment, including burn pit smoke. The PACT Act recognizes chronic rhinitis as a presumptive condition for veterans with qualifying toxic exposure.
