About This Condition
A recognized Gulf War illness category for veterans who experience chronic, disabling symptoms affecting multiple organ systems — such as fatigue, pain, cognitive symptoms, and gastrointestinal complaints — that have been present for six months or more and cannot be explained by a known medical diagnosis. It is presumptively service-connected for eligible veterans.
Evidence Needed
- Medical evaluation documenting multisystem chronic symptoms
- Symptoms present for 6+ months
- Documentation that a known diagnosis cannot fully explain the symptom cluster
- Documentation of qualifying Gulf War or post-9/11 service
