Can a Physical Therapist transfer a license to Alaska as a military spouse?
Not through the compact — Alaska is not currently a Physical Therapy compact member. A military-spouse Physical Therapist relies on VAEIA 2022 / 50 U.S.C. § 4025a, which requires Alaska to recognize a valid out-of-state license upon relocation for military orders.
Your physical therapy licensing board in Alaska
Under AS 08.01.063, the appropriate board shall issue a temporary courtesy license to the spouse of an active duty armed forces member assigned to a duty station in Alaska who holds a substantially equivalent out-of-state license, valid for 180 days and extendable once for an additional 180 days.
