Can a Physical Therapist transfer a license to Virginia as a military spouse?
Yes. Virginia is a member of the Physical Therapy Compact (PT Compact), so a Physical Therapist holding a multistate/compact license can practice in VA without re-applying. Compact privilege is purchased per state where you want to practice. Military spouses moving to a non-member state can use VAEIA 2022 portability.
Your physical therapy licensing board in Virginia
Under HB 967 and SB 981 a DHP board such as the Board of Physical Therapy must determine within 20 days whether a military spouse out-of-state license is substantially equivalent and, if so, issue a full Virginia license.
