ASVAB MM Score
Mechanical Maintenance
What MM Measures
MM covers the Army's motor pool: wheeled vehicle mechanics, power generation repairers, track vehicle repairers, and CBRN specialists. The formula is pure hands-on — no verbal or math components. MM tests how well you understand machines you can see and touch: engines, hydraulics, electrical systems.
Vehicle mechanics need shop knowledge (AS), the ability to visualize mechanical systems (MC), and enough electronics knowledge to work with modern vehicle electrical systems (EI). The three-subtest formula is the most focused of any composite.

Jobs That Require MM
6 MOS in our database require a MM score. Listed highest-to-lowest requirement.
How to Improve Your MM Score
Subtests ranked by impact on your MM score. Improving the top-ranked subtest first maximizes cross-composite benefit.
Engine systems, tools, shop procedures. If you didn't grow up wrenching, YouTube mechanics channels close the gap fast. AS also feeds CO, GM, M, SK.
Levers, gears, pulleys, fluid systems. Sketch diagrams before calculating. MC feeds ST, SC, OF too.
Modern vehicles are heavily electronic. Basic circuit theory and component ID. EI also feeds EL, GM.
