Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.

MCAS Beaufort is the Marine Corps' way of admitting that even Devil Dogs deserve nice things occasionally, and then immediately feeling guilty about it. The town has Spanish moss, antebellum charm, shrimp and grits that justify your entire enlistment, and a downtown that looks like a Nicholas Sparks movie set — which is disorienting when you're still in cammies and smell like JP-8. F-35s and F/A-18s scream overhead while tourists photograph live oaks and wonder if they're in a war zone or a Hallmark movie. Hilton Head is 45 minutes south with beaches and golf that officers pretend they don't play on duty days. Savannah is an hour north with a bar scene that has ended more liberty weekends in disaster than any enemy combatant. Parris Island is right next door, so you'll occasionally see busloads of recruits staring out windows with the thousand-yard stare of someone who just discovered what sand fleas are. The cost of living is shockingly reasonable, the locals are warm, and the Lowcountry boils are a religious experience. This is the duty station other Marines don't believe exists when you describe it, and the one you'll lie about to keep them from requesting it.
