Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.

Loyola University Chicago's Rambler Battalion was deactivated in 1991 and consolidated under UIC before being reactivated as a provisional battalion in 2013, formally uncasing its original 1947 colors in 2016 — a revival that reflects strong institutional and Army commitment to restoring ROTC at one of Chicago's major Jesuit universities. The battalion currently draws over 110 cadets from Loyola, DePaul, Northwestern, Northeastern Illinois, and North Park University, creating a multi-school program that spans some of Chicago's most academically diverse institutions. Chicago's urban environment creates training challenges and opportunities similar to the Fordham/Yankee Battalion model: PT is urban, labs occur in city buildings, and cadets navigate a campus culture where military service is not ubiquitous. Northwestern's inclusion in the Rambler Battalion adds academically elite cadets who compete strongly on the national OML. The Illinois Army National Guard is an active commissioning pathway. Loyola's health sciences programs — nursing, pre-med — contribute to Medical Service Corps branch interest among some cadets.
