The University of Arizona's Wildcat Battalion in Tucson has a documented training partnership with Fort Huachuca, the Army's home of Military Intelligence and the Signal Center of Excellence, located just 70 miles southeast — cadets regularly conduct week-long field training exercises at Huachuca including rappelling and tactical exercises on Army terrain. This proximity gives Arizona cadets natural exposure to the MI and Signal communities and may influence branch interest among cadets who want those conversations before commissioning. The battalion comprises roughly 110 contracted and non-contracted cadets who can commission into Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserve components. Arizona's ROTC program is the oldest and most established in the state, founded at what it describes as Arizona's most historic and premiere Army ROTC program. The Arizona Army National Guard pipeline is active, and Tucson's military-connected population contributes to a cadet corps with above-average prior exposure to Army culture. Scholarships are available at both national and campus levels.
