The Ranger Course at Hendon Camp is described in MINDEF's own materials as the toughest small-unit leadership course in the SAF — a 65-day course oriented to small-unit combat leadership.

The financial differential is zero relative to a non-Commando combat NSF; the cost in attrition risk, injury exposure and sustained physical demand is much higher. Make the trade with eyes open. Reservist (NSmen) obligations for Commando-qualified personnel run on the same statutory cycle as other combat NSmen, but the physical standards expected for currency are higher. Coming back out of condition to a Commando ICT is harder than coming back to a line infantry ICT — the unit culture does not lower the bar for you.
