Fuerzas Especiales
Paraguayan special operations forces are primarily employed in COIN operations against the EPP in the norte — particularly in the Concepción, San Pedro, and Amambay departments. The terrain is challenging: Paraguayan Chaco scrubland and subtropical forest. Selection and training standards are demanding. Personnel should understand that EPP operations involve real risk: the group has killed soldiers and police, and targeted rural landowners and agricultural workers. The Paraguayan special operations force has received training support from Brazil and the United States. Operationally, this is one of the few Latin American special operations forces with a current active insurgency mission — which is both a serious professional challenge and a genuine personnel risk.
