Oficial Fluvial (Armada Paraguaya)
Paraguay is a landlocked country — but the Armada Paraguaya is one of Latin America's more operationally active river navies. Paraguay has over 3,100km of navigable rivers — principally the Río Paraguay and Río Paraná — making riverine operations the core mission. The Armada operates patrol vessels, landing craft, and transport ships on these river systems. Primary missions include river patrol, counter-trafficking (drugs and contraband move along Paraguay's river corridors), and support to Army operations in the north. Paraguay's position as a transit country for cocaine and contraband makes riverine interdiction a genuine operational mission, not a peacetime exercise. The Armada is smaller than the Army and Air Force but is arguably the most operationally relevant force for Paraguay's actual geographic and security situation.
