F-16 Pilot (RMAF)
The Royal Moroccan Air Force operates F-16C/D Block 52+ fighters, acquired through US Foreign Military Sales. Morocco was approved for additional F-16s in 2019 (24 aircraft, advanced configuration). RMAF F-16 pilots train alongside US Air Force counterparts and participate in African Lion — the largest US-led military exercise in Africa, held annually in Morocco. Selection for RMAF pilot training is highly competitive. The path from cadet to operational F-16 pilot involves US-standard training frameworks. The RMAF has participated in coalition operations: Moroccan F-16s were part of the coalition air operations over Libya in 2011 under UN Security Council Resolution 1973.
