India's maritime special operations force — formally the Marine Commandos. Selection is extremely competitive; attrition rates in the MARCOS selection course are high. Trained in maritime counterterrorism, underwater demolitions, amphibious assault, and hostage rescue. MARCOS have been deployed in counter-piracy operations in the Arabian Sea and were involved in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks response. One of the most demanding special forces selections in the Indian military.
