About This Installation
The largest and most important base of the Armada de la República Argentina, housing the fleet's frigates, destroyers, and submarines. Home to the TR-1700 class submarines. Puerto Belgrano played a central role in the 1982 Falklands War when the ARA General Belgrano — sunk by a British submarine — was based here. The base handles the ARA's major maintenance and ship overhaul operations.
