Suggest a Feature →Fort Eisenhower
Formerly Fort Gordon, renamed to Fort Eisenhower because even the Army thought Gordon sounded too much like a guy who asks you to fix his printer — which, ironically, is what every 25-series MOS here does, because the Cyber Center of Excellence is where the Army trains its signal soldiers, cyber operators, and every officer who's convinced they understand 'the cyber' because they used Excel once. Augusta has two seasons: Masters Week (when hotel rooms cost more than your car and the city pretends it's Beverly Hills) and Not Masters Week (when there's a Waffle House and a sense of duty). The cyber mission is genuinely legit — Army Cyber Command is here, NSA/CSS Georgia is here, and the people doing this work are operating at a level that would surprise anyone who thinks the Army is just boots and rifles. The Signal Corps training pipeline produces the soldiers who keep the entire force connected, and if they go on strike the Army stops functioning in about 45 minutes. The barbecue is legit — Sconyers and Southern Soul are worth the drive. The humidity is a lifestyle — you don't just experience Georgia summer, it experiences you, inside your boots, under your cap, behind your knees. Richmond County around the base is rough. The river walk is nice. The cost of living is manageable. The Savannah River is right there judging everyone.
