MCAS MiramarOn-base housing (Lincoln Military Housing) is limited and competitive. Off-base San Diego is expensive — $2,500-$3,800 for a 3BR in Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, or Poway. Santee and El Cajon are cheaper but farther. BAH consistently falls short of market rent.
Spouse Employment
MCAS BeaufortLimited professional market in Beaufort. Tourism, healthcare, and education are the main sectors. Hilton Head hospitality jobs are plentiful but seasonal. Remote work or Savannah commute (45 min) for career-track positions.

Gate Commute
MCAS BeaufortSingle main gate with minimal traffic. Air station is compact and easy to navigate. Beaufort commute is under 10 min. No congestion issues.
MCAS MiramarMain gate off I-15 at Miramar Way. I-15 traffic is notorious — budget 30-45 min to get anywhere during rush hour. The 15/52/163 interchange is a daily headache. Living east of the base (Scripps Ranch, Poway) avoids the worst of it.
