Can you join the military with Depression?
A single past episode of depression with full recovery is NOT automatically DQ. Disqualifying if you meet ANY of five criteria — most commonly the 36-month rule (any symptoms or treatment in the past 36 months disqualifies). Inpatient treatment, recurrence, or any suicidality is independently disqualifying.

Depressive disorder if: (1) Outpatient care including counseling required for longer than 12 cumulative months; (2) Symptoms or treatment within the last 36 months; (3) The applicant required any inpatient treatment in a hospital or residential facility; (4) Any recurrence; or (5) Any suicidality.
