What ST Measures
ST is the benchmark for the Army's most demanding technical fields: intelligence, medical, IT, and advanced communications. It combines verbal, math, science, and mechanical comprehension — a breadth signal that you can handle complex, cross-disciplinary training. The highest ST requirements (101+) are reserved for roles like 35F (Intelligence Analyst) and 68W (Combat Medic).
Skilled technical jobs require understanding written doctrine (VE), performing calculations (MK), applying scientific principles (GS), and visualizing mechanical or physiological systems (MC). The combination filters for people who can learn quickly across multiple technical domains simultaneously.

How to Improve Your ST Score
Subtests ranked by impact on your ST score. Improving the top-ranked subtest first maximizes cross-composite benefit.
VE is in the formula — every WK point improves both ST and GT.
Same as WK — high leverage because VE feeds multiple composites.
Algebra, geometry, fractions. MK also feeds EL, GM, A — high cross-composite value.
Biology, chemistry, physics fundamentals. GS also feeds EL, FA, GM, M.
Levers, gears, pressure systems. MC also feeds MM, SC, OF.
