Two-Marine teams providing long-range precision fires, reconnaissance, and surveillance to infantry battalions. Carlos Hathcock (93 confirmed kills, Vietnam) is the program's mythic figure.
The Story
The last 0317 class graduated 15 December 2023 at School of Infantry-East, ending the longest uninterrupted scout sniper lineage in any US service. As of this writing, active-duty Marines are still walking around with a defunct MOS code on their Service Record Books.
