Bradley Fighting Vehicle Infantryman
11M
Served: c.1983–2001
Manned the M2/M3 Bradley — gunner, driver, dismount in a mechanized infantry squad, with a separate skill identifier from leg infantry.
The Story
The "11M" tab on duffel bags and ETS paperwork kept showing up for years after the conversion — the patch industry took longer to update than the personnel system did. A 2019 MWI piece argued the merger was a mistake; a leg infantryman and a Bradley infantryman really aren't the same job.
Epitaph
“Killed for being too specialized. The Army has been quietly walking it back ever since.”
