On-base housing in Monzen and Atago Hills — recently modernized and generally good quality. Tower housing available. Off-base housing in Iwakuni is available with OHA but requires navigating Japanese rental norms. Many families stay on-base for convenience.
On-base housing (Lincoln Military Housing) is limited and competitive. Off-base San Diego is expensive — $2,500-$3,800 for a 3BR in Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, or Poway. Santee and El Cajon are cheaper but farther. BAH consistently falls short of market rent.
