Barksdale AFB
Barksdale is home to the B-52 Stratofortress and Air Force Global Strike Command HQ, where the BUFF has been flying since 1955 and will apparently fly until the heat death of the universe — the aircraft is literally older than every single person flying it, projected to serve until the 2050s, meaning a bomber designed when Eisenhower was president will outlast most current social media platforms. Bossier City has casinos (the Horseshoe and Margaritaville are within blast radius of bad financial decisions), crawfish boils that are a religion from February to June, and a cost of living that lets you stack actual cash. The Shreveport-Bossier metro is what happens when Louisiana and Texas cultures have a baby and name it 'good enough' — Southern food, oil money energy, and a Red River separating two states that can't agree on anything. The humidity wraps around you like a weighted blanket you didn't ask for. BUFF crew dogs are undefeated at bar trivia and can tell you more about 1960s avionics than any museum docent. The Global Strike mission is dead serious — nuclear deterrence isn't a PowerPoint slide here, it's the reason you exist.
