Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.

The University of Washington NROTC unit was one of the original six programs established when the Navy launched NROTC in 1926, giving it a 99-year institutional history and a deep alumni network across the Pacific Fleet. Seattle's proximity to Naval Station Bremerton, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Naval Base Kitsap, and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard puts active-duty fleet units within daily driving range — a geographic advantage that defines the character of the unit's professional training. The unit hosts an annual Northwest Navy competition bringing together regional NROTC programs. Marine Option midshipmen have access to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar for aviation familiarization and Camp Pendleton for field training. Service selection outcomes include all warfare communities with particular strength in the surface warfare and Pacific Fleet assignment pipeline. The UW sailing team, operating on Puget Sound, provides hands-on seamanship experience that reinforces Naval science coursework.
