The Flyers pilot outreach organization specifically cultivates rated officer mentorship, connecting cadets with active duty pilots before the rated board. Virginia Tech's engineering programs (aerospace, electrical, computer) feed acquisitions, cyber, space, and rated career fields. Langley AFB with its F-22 wing and Air Combat Command headquarters is 200 miles east — not close, but within day-trip mentorship range for a motivated cadet.
