Villanova University

Villanova's NROTC program, established in 1946, has produced 22 admirals and generals — second only to the Naval Academy itself in flag officer production among NROTC units. The program is small and deliberately selective, committing to depth over breadth: 70 midshipmen with close active-duty mentorship is the unit's operating model. The Marine Option's track record at Villanova is extraordinary; multiple Commandants of the Marine Corps have come through this program. The university's Augustinian mission emphasizes ethical leadership, which the naval science faculty deliberately aligns with Navy core values. Villanova midshipmen have ranked as high as third in the entire NROTC program nationally. Service selection results consistently place graduates into competitive communities including nuclear surface warfare, submarine, and Marine Corps aviation.
