$12,000/yr Room & Board Grant for Cross-Town Scholarship Cadets~$12,000/yr

USF provides a $12,000 annual room and board grant to cross-town scholarship recipients — including cadets from SFSU, Sonoma State, and other Dons Battalion partner schools — who carry a federal ROTC scholarship. This significantly offsets San Francisco housing costs for cadets who are not USF students paying full tuition.

One of the Oldest ROTC Programs on the West Coast

The Dons Battalion was founded in 1936. This institutional continuity means deep alumni networks, established cadre relationships with major West Coast installations, and a program culture that has outlasted every major Army restructuring since World War II.

About This Program

University of San Francisco hosts the Dons Battalion — one of the oldest Army ROTC programs on the West Coast, founded in 1936. The battalion's cross-enrolled partner schools include San Francisco State University, Sonoma State University, Dominican University of California, and Academy of Art University. USF is a Jesuit Catholic university whose Ignatian tradition of reflective, ethics-driven leadership complements officer development in ways that Army senior leadership consistently recognizes. ROTC offices are located in the Underhill Building on USF's campus in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco.
