Free Room & Board for Scholarship Cadets~$18,000/yr

University of Portland provides contracted ROTC cadets on National, Campus-Based, or Minuteman scholarships with a full room and board scholarship — approximately $18,000 in annual value. This benefit extends to cadets from all Pilot Battalion / Det 695 affiliate schools who choose to live on UP's campus. It is not widely advertised and is rare among private universities.

About This Program

University of Portland is a private Catholic university run by the Congregation of Holy Cross — the same religious order that founded the University of Notre Dame. UP hosts the Pilot Battalion, which also serves Portland State University and Eastern Oregon University cadets. UP's nationally ranked nursing school and strong engineering programs create direct pipeline for Army Medical Service Corps and technical branches. The Holy Cross tradition of ethical formation under pressure is a natural complement to officer development. Campus sits on a bluff above the Willamette River in North Portland.
