University of Denver Army ROTC cadets cross-enroll into the University of Colorado Boulder's Golden Buffalo Battalion. DU students typically attend ROTC classes at the Metropolitan State University satellite location on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver — approximately eight miles from DU's main campus — rather than commuting to Boulder. DU is a private R1 research university ranked among the top 100 nationally, with strong programs in international studies, law, and engineering. The Golden Buffalo Battalion commissioned 36 total officers across all affiliate schools in spring 2025.
