About This Program

UCF's Fighting Knights Battalion has been recognized as a top-8-percent program since 1999 and won the MacArthur Award in 2013 — national-level credibility that helps in branch selection and scholarship competition. The battalion's Ranger Challenge team advanced to the national competition at West Point by placing second at Ft. Benning out of 39 schools, which tells you something about the culture: this is a program that takes the competitive side seriously. UCF's massive student body means the battalion has no shortage of candidates, and the cadre have historically pushed a high-volume, high-intensity model. Central Florida's proximity to MacDill Air Force Base and multiple Guard installations creates mentorship and internship avenues that smaller programs lack. Scholarship recipients report the program actively markets its numbers to recruits, and the four-year scholarship package is genuinely competitive. Cadets should go in knowing that a large program means peer competition for OML position is fierce — your performance here ranks you nationally, not just locally.
