UCF's Fighting Knights Battalion has been recognized as a top-8-percent program since 1999 and won the MacArthur Award in 2013 — national-level credibility that helps in branch selection and scholarship competition. The battalion's Ranger Challenge team advanced to the national competition at West Point by placing second at Ft. Benning out of 39 schools, which tells you something about the culture: this is a program that takes the competitive side seriously.
