Det 820 at TCU was recognized as the best small detachment in the nation in a recent AETC evaluation and consistently ranks at the top of its region for GPA, physical fitness, and Field Training selection rates. NAS Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base is 10 miles from campus, home of the 301st Fighter Wing (F-16) and adjacent to Lockheed Martin's F-35 production facility — cadets here can walk across the street from class to watch America's newest fighter jet being built. TCU ROTC cadets have completed visits to Altus AFB (airlift and tanker training) and Dyess AFB (B-1 bomber wing), giving the program's rated aspirants exposure to multiple combat aviation communities. The private university environment means close-knit class cohorts and cadre who know every cadet personally. TCU's Christian mission creates an officer development ethos centered on servant leadership.
