Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.

About This Program

San Diego hosts more active-duty Navy and Marine Corps personnel than any metropolitan area in the country, and the USD NROTC unit — established in 1982 — benefits from that concentration every week of the school year, not just during summer cruise. Naval Air Station North Island, Naval Base San Diego, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, and the West Coast SEAL teams are within a 20-minute drive, giving midshipmen access to fleet units, ship tours, flight line visits, and informal mentorship from operational officers that no landlocked program can replicate. The Marine Option maintains close ties with Camp Pendleton. USD is a private Catholic university with a serious academic culture that meshes well with the unit's military standards. Service selection outcomes are competitive; the aviation pipeline is particularly strong given local access to NAS North Island.
