About This Program

The University of Oregon's Webfoot Warrior Battalion in Eugene commissions officers from a campus better known for its liberal arts and track-and-field culture than for military tradition, which creates a distinctive cadet experience — cadets at UO often navigate a campus environment that is not deeply military-aware, requiring a higher degree of self-motivation to thrive. The program is smaller than neighboring Oregon State and does not carry the same institutional history, but it produces committed officers with a broader liberal arts perspective that some branches, particularly Military Intelligence and Civil Affairs, value. Eugene is not adjacent to major Army installations, and cadets rely primarily on brigade-level training events and National Guard partnerships for field experience. The Oregon Army National Guard pipeline is active. The program actively recruits across the Eugene metropolitan area and works with cadets from the broader Willamette Valley. Branch selection follows national OML patterns and the program graduates consistent, if modest-sized, commissioning classes annually.
