About This Program

The Hampton Roads NROTC consortium is headquartered at Old Dominion University in Norfolk and is one of the largest and most fleet-connected units in the entire NROTC system. The unit encompasses ODU, Norfolk State University, Hampton University, Regent University, Virginia Wesleyan, and Tidewater Community College — over 170 midshipmen total. Naval Station Norfolk, the world's largest naval installation and home of the Atlantic Fleet, is a short drive; so is Master Jet Base Oceana housing the majority of the Navy's F/A-18 squadrons, and Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, home of the East Coast SEAL teams. Marine Option midshipmen (M Company) have access to Marine Corps support elements throughout the Hampton Roads operating environment. No other NROTC unit in the country provides comparable daily access to operational Navy and Marine Corps assets during the regular school year.
