About This Program

Det 465 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln earned the 2023 Small Detachment of the Year Award — the top small-program designation in AFROTC — with roughly 50 enrolled cadets and a 100 percent success rate for cadets competing for pilot and CSO slots, including two Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training selections from a single commissioning class. That per-cadet output is extraordinary and reflects a program that punches decisively above its weight. Offutt AFB in Bellevue, 50 miles northeast, is US Strategic Command headquarters — the nerve center for nuclear deterrence, global strike, intelligence integration, and space operations coordination. The intelligence and space career field pipelines from this program are among the most substantive in the Midwest given STRATCOM's mission breadth.
