About This Program

Det 415 at the University of Minnesota has built a reputation for exceptional physical fitness performance, consistently ranking in the top 10 among all 145 AFROTC detachments nationwide on fitness assessment scores — and that ranking matters directly to rated board Order of Merit calculations. Minneapolis-Saint Paul Air Reserve Station (934th Airlift Wing, C-130H) is embedded in the metro, providing airlift career field exposure during the academic year. The Twin Cities' large defense contractor presence (Honeywell Aerospace, Orbital ATK, Seagate) creates an acquisitions and research career field awareness that university STEM graduates can leverage. Cold weather training is a built-in conditioning asset — Minnesota's winters are not an obstacle for this program, they are part of the preparation.
