Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.

Hampton University's NROTC unit, Charlie Company of the Hampton Roads battalion, sits at the intersection of HBCU history and the Navy's largest Atlantic Fleet concentration. The Hampton Roads NROTC consortium is one of the largest in the nation, with over 170 midshipmen across Old Dominion, Norfolk State, Hampton, Regent University, and Tidewater Community College. Hampton's proximity to Naval Station Norfolk — the world's largest naval base — means fleet access during the school year is real, not symbolic: aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarine tenders, and amphibious ships are a short drive away. Hampton University has an HBCU legacy that dates to 1868 and a strong history of producing Black officers during periods when the Navy commissioned very few; the university carries that tradition deliberately. Service selection outcomes for Hampton midshipmen span SWO, aviation, and Marine communities.
