Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.

Det 160 at George Washington University is the only AFROTC program that puts cadets physically inside the Beltway during their entire undergraduate training — and that geography defines what the program produces. Pentagon policy shops, Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, and the legislative affairs offices of every Air Force major command are within commuting distance. Cadets rotate through summer internships in congressional offices and DoD agencies that no other detachment can arrange as naturally. The career field pipeline here skews hard toward intelligence, acquisition, legislative liaison, and senior strategic leadership — the Air Force billets where a GWU degree and DC network confer lasting advantage. The wing is small, academically elite, and mission-focused in a way that reflects the city it calls home.
