About This Program

Cornell is the only Ivy League university that hosts all three ROTC service branches on campus with its own dedicated facilities — a distinction it takes seriously. The NROTC unit is small and famously tight-knit; forum discussions describe it as "very proud of being one of the toughest ROTC units around, but also very supportive." Service selection outcomes at Cornell punch well above the unit's size: in one recent cohort of three graduating seniors, two received flight school and one received Naval Special Warfare — with one aviation selection going to a midshipman who hadn't requested it, suggesting strong academic and leadership credentials across the board. Ivy League culture creates some friction with ROTC visibility, but Cornell's unit has maintained steady enrollment. The unit is one of the few that can offer Ivy League academic credentials alongside a very competitive officer pipeline.
