About This Program

Boise State's Bronco Battalion in Boise operates in a state dominated by the Idaho Army National Guard, and the Guard pipeline is among the most prominent commissioning pathways for Bronco Battalion graduates. The battalion extends to Northwest Nazarene University and College of Idaho, reflecting a regional approach to officer production across southern Idaho. Mountain Home Air Force Base sits 50 miles southeast of Boise, and while it is an Air Force installation, its military community contributes to the military-aware environment around Boise State. Idaho's geography — volcanic plateau, river canyons, mountain ranges — provides exceptional terrain for physical training and field exercises beyond the standard flatland experience. The program draws from Boise State's growing STEM and business programs, producing a diverse cadet corps. Scholarships are available through both national programs and campus-based opportunities, and the program actively supports the Green-to-Gold pathway for enlisted soldiers completing degrees at BSU.
