Keflavík NATO Base (NAS Keflavík)

Critical transatlantic staging base on the mid-Atlantic island of Iceland, controlling the GIUK (Greenland-Iceland-UK) Gap — the primary ASW choke point between the North Atlantic and Norwegian Sea. NAS Keflavík was closed in 2006 but partially reopened as a NATO facility in 2016, with rotating US P-8A Poseidon and F-15C missions. Iceland has no military of its own — the US provides its defense under the 1951 Defense Agreement.
