About This Installation
Northernmost US military installation in the world at 76°N, 1,500 km inside the Arctic Circle. Hosts the 12th Space Warning Squadron operating the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) — one of NORAD's primary missile launch detection radars. Renamed from Thule Air Base to Pituffik Space Base in 2023 to reflect the indigenous Greenlandic name for the location.
