Permanent Party
Definition
Soldiers assigned to a unit (as opposed to trainees). "Permanent" is a generous word because PCS orders will move you in 2-3 years. Nothing in the military is permanent except your knees' hatred of you.
Example Usage
"Welcome to permanent party. You'll be here for approximately 18 months before the Army decides you should be somewhere else."
