Baptism by Fire
Definition
Learning a job, skill, or survival technique by being immediately thrown into the worst possible version of it with no preparation whatsoever. No classroom. No handholding. Just consequences. The military's favorite teaching method and the reason veterans are unnervingly calm during emergencies.
Example Usage
"First week at the unit, they put me on a 72-hour CQ rotation, then straight to the field. Total baptism by fire. I cried twice. I learned everything."
