Air Force Core Values

The Text — Word for Word

Integrity First Service Before Self Excellence In All We Do

What it actually means

Three phrases, drilled from day one of Basic Military Training. Airmen call them "the core values" and can recite them instantly. "Integrity First" is deliberately first — the Air Force treats it as the value the other two rest on. The honest note is the same as every service: these are a real standard and also a slide in every commander’s briefing, and Airmen are clear-eyed about the difference.

Where it came from

Adopted as the Air Force’s three core values in the mid-1990s and reinforced through BMT, professional military education, and annual training ever since.
