Sub Base New London

Annual BASOPS for Submarine Base New London (Groton), Connecticut — the "Submarine Capital of the World" and home to the Naval Submarine School. The only submarine base on the East Coast trained new submarine crews since World War II. Home to approximately 12,000 military personnel and the backbone of Atlantic submarine operations. The base houses Virginia-class fast attack submarines and is adjacent to the Electric Boat shipyard (General Dynamics) in Groton — the nation's primary submarine construction facility.

FY2025 MILCON for Sub Base New London. Projects include submarine school simulation facility upgrades ($28M) and waterfront pier rehabilitation ($17M). Virginia-class submarine training requirements are driving significant simulation center investment across Atlantic submarine commands.
