Annual BASOPS for Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois — "The Home of the Navy" and the Navy's sole enlisted recruit training command. Every Navy enlisted sailor passes through Great Lakes for 8 weeks of basic training. The installation trains approximately 40,000 recruits per year. The Navy also conducts advanced technical training at several schoolhouses on the installation. O&M covers massive training infrastructure and approximately 20,000 military and civilian personnel.
