Fort Greely — Base Operations & Maintenance (FY2025)

Annual BASOPS for Fort Greely, Alaska — home to the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system, the Army's national missile defense interceptor field. Fort Greely's 44 Ground-Based Interceptors (GBIs) are the primary defense against ICBM attack on the continental United States from North Korea or other rogue states. The remote interior Alaska location, extreme cold, and continuous missile defense alert posture drive exceptional O&M costs. Approximately 1,500 military and civilian personnel.
